Collaborative Law Collaborative Law is a dispute resolution process in which spouses and their attorneys work together to negotiate fair settlements without the threat of going to court. Each side is represented by an attorney and all participants agree that they will not threaten or participate in court proceedings. All participants agree to work together respectfully, honestly, and in good faith to try to find reasonable solutions to the legitimate needs of both parties. Both sides sign a binding agreement to disclose all documents and information that relate to the issues, early and fully and voluntarily. All participants use their best efforts to create proposals that meet the essential needs of both parties. The participants agree to compromise, if necessary, to reach a settlement of all issues. Everyone in the process agrees in advance to work only toward a settlement which meets the main concerns of both parties and is in the best interests of the post-divorce family. Litigation is never threatened. Game-playing and taking advantage are not permitted.
